More About Us

Here's what we want to accomplish:
Our goal is to keep the Fremont and Winema National Forest in Public
ownership.
We were formed to prevent the Klamath Tribes from seizing our beloved
Forests.
We are founded in the Klamath Basin, but we are open to any and
all Americans. We believe all people are created equal. We do not support
race-based hiring practices. The community should not be subject to
Tribal Courts, where non-Indians are barred from judgeships.
Our membership and support comes from the Upper and Lower Klamath
Basin, within and outside of the Klamath Reservation, within and outside
of the Klamath Tribes, and outside of our community altogether.
We want to live as One Basin and One Nation. We fully support irrigators’
ability to receive water. We do not believe water should be held hostage
to try to blackmail the community into supporting a sovereign nation, surrounding
thousands of property owners.
When one accepts blackmail as a solution to a problem, the problem
will only get worse as the blackmailer comes back time and time again, until
one has no money (or water) left.
We seek and support a solution to the Klamath Basin Water Crisis.
Community members -- including Hunters, Fishermen, Farmers and Ranchers --
have spent many years and many dollars fencing our streams, planting shade
for fish, restoring and preserving our rivers and our streams. Solutions
will come with cooperative efforts and broad-based negotiations, not closed-door
secret meetings.
We want to keep, intact, the community’s ability to utilize our
National Forests for wood cutting, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, horseback
riding, hiking, skiing and other recreational opportunities, which we all
enjoy.
The main and most important goal of The Klamath Basin Alliance,
is that the National Forests and other public lands of Oregon, and of the
United States, shall always be free and open to the use by the people of
the United States. All the people!
